I took a train ride from Christchurch to Greymouth on the TranzAlpine train, Greymouth was a place I wanted to visit as it was the hometown of an old shipmate of mine and he spoke highly of it. I never expected to be presented with some fine murals, especially the one at Monteith’s Brewery.
Around town there was also a good selection of artworks, the local newspaper offices has a large mural showing prominent historical facts of the region, I have used this as the banner for this page. There is a good mural by Greymouth based artist Mark Haldane and some fun and quirky murals which incorporate the landscape.
