My Scandi Travels

Some of you may have noticed that I haven’t been posting much recently, I was away volunteering at some athletics championships in Sweden and combined that with some touristy bits while I was there.  You can read all about my travels here.

While I was in Sweden and Denmark I found a great deal of street art, I will add some photographs in the relevant sections later.

Vegas Visions

Just before arriving in Vegas, Graeme sent me a link to the Greene Street Kitchen, a newly opened restaurant and bar in the Palms Casino Resort, with an original Banksy.

When Jim & I got there we pleasantly surprised to see it and works by other well-known artists, including one of my favourites, Vhils.  We didn’t have much time to go spotting other works but did manage to photograph some, the photographs can be seen here.

Seen in San Francisco

Followers of this page know that I visited San Francisco during my recent trip to the USA with my mate Jim.  Whilst there, I was on the lookout for some good street art and I wasn’t disappointed, I thought myself lucky to find two original Banksy’s, but I wasn’t so lucky with the weather on the day I visited the Mission District where the majority of the art was found.

Most of the photographs can be seen on the following San Francisco page, I have split the city into three distinct areas, the City Centre, Haight Ashbury and The Mission and each can be seen separately.  There was so much art to be seen that I’m sure I missed plenty and I would love to go back to capture more, this time in better weather though,

Our American Adventures

Many of you may know that my mate Jim and I have just returned from a trip to America, we had a great time despite having some bad weather while we were there, we visited San Francisco, Las Vegas, The Grand Canyon, and finally, New York and had a fabulous time.

You can read all about our great trip in the Jim Jimmies on Tour in the USA page.

I’ll post the street art photographs taken, in each location, during the trip later.

Street Art Reykjavik

A quiet day at home sorting out some of the many photographs taken during my recent trip to Reykjavik in Iceland.  Despite the snow and ice, there was plenty of colour on offer, not only were the old buildings colourful, there were hundreds of murals on display.  I have posted photographs of the significant ones here.

Iceland Trip

I’ve just returned from a trip to Iceland with my friend Jim Lewars, we had great fun exploring the city, visiting many of its famous sights. We also went on a couple of tours, one around the golden Circle and another out to see the Northern Lights.  While there I also took many photographs of the Street Art in the city, so much that it will take me a little longer to post the images on the site.

You can read about our trip and see our photographs here.

Un-Connected

Now that Celtic Connections is over for another year, I can try and get back to normal again. I’ve really enjoyed my involvement in the festival, heard some great music, and met loads of interesting people along the way.

For my final week, I was involved in gigs at the Mitchell Theatre, The Old Fruitmarket and the O2 Academy, the bands performing were Smith & McClellan, Josie Duncan, Symbio, The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc, Julietnorth, Karine Polwart and finally The Dead South supported by the Hooten Hollers and the Pretty Archie at the Academy, each of them were interesting and different in their own way.

I never got much chance to take photographs, but I really loved the imagery of the Old Fruitmarket when it was empty.

I’m off to Reykjavik later this week so I hope there will be plenty of photo oportunities.

New Section added

To try and make it easier to find photographs of street artists with a significant quantity of murals, I have created a new top-level section called The Artists.  I have added as much information on the artist as currently known by myself and a gallery of images.  I will add more information and Images as I receive them.
