Reconnect was the theme of Nuart 2022, this was pretty apt as artists returned to the city following the restrictions of Covid. Ten artists from the UK and around the world arrived to create spectacular murals to add to the already impressive collection from previous festivals. Again, due to me being away travelling, I was unable to attend during the festival, but I was able to photograph them at a later time. I found works by some favourite artists, such as Glasgow’s James Klinge, his giant mural at the rear of the Ibis Hotel next door to one by Norway’s Martin Whatson, both with different styles, but equally impressive. I visited Jacoba Niepoort’s mural on Justice Mill Lane but could never manage to capture a good image, strange to say about Aberdeen, but there was just too much sunshine. One piece that really impressed me was Pejac‘s welcome mat at 41½ Union Street, featuring thousands of little people painted on the doorstep.
